I know it's been almost a year since I've blogged....between work and normal life routines things can be busy around here Where shall I start...last August 2008 we attended the Edmonton E.A.R.S Show we did awesome!! We came home with three new Grand Champions from that show, Iggy, Avalon and Krackle Nice thing about Specialties they give you that added oppurtunity at legs, quite nice indeed !! Then in September 2008 off to Warren,Manitoba for the M.R.F Show. That was the first time I had flown!! What an awesome experience, and it was the first time I had met Tammy Michaud from M&M's in person, we had been phone buddies for some time beforehand !! Myself and Krinkle,Tinkerbell,Pebbles,Yogi, and Gem stayed at Tammy & Grant's for a couple days and it was awesome company to have I feel as though I share a kinship with Tammy that few people share, not just a love of Holland's but an appreciation of friends. In December 2008, we had a sad time just before Christmas suddenly losing Pebbles She had passed during the night, we think that she may have had complications from an earlier pregnancy which was quite hard on her, the babies were stuck and she needed assistance to birth Welcome to the breeding world, it isn't all cute and fluffy babies. With breeding there is also possiblity of losing your favorite stock, it can really suck as she was our first herd bunny to pass . This why I can be so picky where my babies go for homes, sorry but these bunnies should be a commitment not a disposible pet. This year has been promising so far for us, our upcoming juniors Izzabelle and Sammy went to their first show in February 2009 in Wetaskiwin. Both received excellant placings!! Sammy came home with 2 Legs, 1 Leg for BOV, 1 Leg in the Holland Specialties for BOV,BOB which also counts as a BIS!! I'm still in shock!! Bear got his first Leg!! He also received two second places,we were in shock!! It has taken longer for him to mature and now look he is doing awesome !! We also granded our little girl Gem !! Genetics are an awesome thing in this breeding world!! Her Mom & Dad are Grand Champions, as well as her Grandmother Irish Rose Guinevere with 13 Legs !! Currently we are keeping our fingers crossed for our upcoming juniors, they will be shown in May under awesome ARBA judges, how often does Alan Ormond and Alen Mesick come out for an Alberta Show?? This will be a truly exciting time for us!! Talk to you all soon, and may your nestboxes be full!!
Here I am writing long after due!! LOL Between working and daily stuff I've finally made the time to write!! To get everyone up to date again our last show was excellant !! We had good placings with both our Hollands & Ashley's Polish!!Krinkle got his very first leg!! Very exciting since we determined he needed a little more developement to take that Best Opposite!!Tinkerbell got her first leg as well!! On the one show table our girls placed 1st,2nd and 3rd how exciting is that!! Now I realize we definately are headed in the right direction with our foundation lines.Thankyou to all of you who made them availible to us!! We also sold some bunnies that weekend,REW babies went to M&M's & Petit Lapin Rabbitries in Manitoba.Sean from Xanadu also bought a REW Holland doe to start off his Holland project.I should also add that our infamous Lil' Houdini did well on the tables, even though the " sex change fairy" came to visit,LOL what a shocker he turned out to be a she!! Houdini is now living at M&M's in Winnipeg, may she carry on her excellant lines in her babies!! We have had a couple of litters born as well!! Oreo and Bear had a litter of nine babies!! Two babies passed but we had a choice of seven babies to choose from for showing,we kept back a little broken tort and a solid black.Nelly and Rosco had two wee babies, lit tort girl developed a eye infection shortly after her eyes opened so she'll be kept or possibly sold for breeding. Her litter mate will be shown in August,a beautiful black baby!! ( I do have a weakness for blacks!!) Our new girlie Creator's Skywishes has three beautiful babies from Bear,I just love all three!! Avalon has on remaining baby out of Krackle who is a keeper!! Cocoa has two sweet babies too!! A few does are due in the next couple days,I can't wait LOL. I'm anxiously waiting the arrival of a new herd buck as well!! I can't thank Donna enough for this new addition,Zemu 2 is the last of the S&S Elliott babies.Bear's dam Half Ear's sire was Magnum& Zemu's grandsire was also Magnum,so the tight lines are an added bonus here to us!! We hope he travels well from Washington Convention,as he has not travelled before.*fingers crossed* Well that's about all for now,I have a bit of work to do today and we are finally getting summer!! Tata for now :0
Hello,it has been a while since I've written here!! Right in between shows I may ad!! We did well at our last show in February, came home with three legs! Our home bred boy,Krackle got his first leg & Avalon who was bred by M&M's got two legs.We placed well with the other Hollands we brought as well.Ashley was that close to getting a leg with her bucky Tiger, there weren't enough entered again However, she did home home with a beautiful ribbon for Best Opposite!! On with other news, babies are growing up fast....going to their new homes.I'm getting tight on cage space so I'll have to think about ordering up another set of stackers :0 How quickly we've jumped up to 18 cages, and that's just a start....one more set for now ' Our next show is in just 22 days...wow where has the time flown??? We should have some new litters before then, just days before. In the next couple days I'll be thinking about tattooing the juniors,at least there are only three babies to do.Wow it felt like a bunny tattoo-athon in February!! Well I'm off to putter about again, tata for now!!
We took our sweet girl Lily to get checked out today,my suspicions were confirmed by Richard & Steve.I've been trying to breed Lily since I bought her in September, she had two false pregnancies and a miss.I was concerned what could possibly be wrong here. She is a healthy girl, but just no luck in breeding. An ultrasound confirmed a retained kit on one horn My options were to put her to sleep or have her spayed.I just couldn't put this sweet little girl down, gosh she loved to cuddle and have her nose rubbed.Gosh,I think I have to toughen up a bit if I'm going to breed. The tears are streaming down my face right now.I'm happy that a girl that works at the clinic offered to take her,she really wanted April!! Soon as she picked Lily up and held her she melted Tony said.I'll miss yah sweet girl, enjoy your new home and bunny friend.
Hello, well we made it through Christmas....I was sick, kinda sucked oh well LOL We do have new additions to our bunny herd, where do I start...our new junior doe arrived safely. Thanks to Glen & Jennifer for bringing her back from M&M's.I've even got a great name for her Avalon, since she is out of Genevieve, for those familiar with the King Arthur legend. She is a doll!! Thankyou Again,Tammie !! We have also had some new litters born in the last couple weeks: Bella had seven babies(not including the giant),Star had two babies(one DOA), and Ashley's Polish doe Cocoa delivered six babies.Lily missed again keep trying I guess...hmm what else... Oh yah, turns out Solo aka Sunshine is a buck so we'll be petting him out,his ears may be pushing it for the breed standard. If your looking for a cuddle bug...he's your guy!! Hmm....what else is new.I was going to buy another buck from Panda's lines, but the wee guy was sold already*but I know who bought him, wink, wink*So my alternate bunny choice was Panda's half sister Lunde's Oreo!! To date Panda is the Only broken doe here,so since we aren't using her for breeding this seemed to be a great choice!! Show NEWS:the Wetaskiwin show is just weeks away, wow time flies!! LOL I still have to Tattoo...that will be a next weekend project.Bye for Now.....
We're into the countdown for Christmas, only seven more days wheew!! I've got all the shopping done, still wrapping though I'm off this weekend so I'll erect the tree then....I'm a little late normally it's up in November!! On to the bunskiteers LOL,we have a new addition who will be here after the 30th of December,I'm very excited this little girlies parents are well known in the Holland world.Mom is Irish Rose Guinevere (13 legs) and Dad is Sarah's Hayabusa!! These are some more awesome genetics to add to our herd!! Our breedings may have all been sucessfull too...all the girls are digging and being busy!! *fingers crossed* Hopefully Lily caught this time I'd be happy to get at least one litter from her.All the babies are growing like little weeds, and I'm still choosing names for the Holland's..so far Krackle,Kricket, and I haven't made up my mind for the third baby yet...will be a girlie name starting with a J...not bad for this litter 1 buck and 2 does. They are looking pretty decent, even with the Holland ganglies!!Ashley's little Solo looks like a little doe as well. She'll be happy!! I'll keep everyone updated on the litter's to come as well.......TTYS
Well since I let the cat out of the bag,I'm ready to share my new adventure in Hollands of colour. My original intentions were to play it safe with Torts, but as a oppurtunity came up to buy some juniors of ELS and Belokonny breeding from M&M's Rabbitry.....I just couldn't resist!! LOL We are now expanding with REW's & sablepoint...Nice thing about both I can utilize my tortoiseshell & black with these new bunz.Just last night we also picked up another addition to our growing bunny family. We now have Tasia's Nelly, she is a very cute little blue doe. We're hoping to get a litter from her in future as she has nice attributes to offer here.On to our juniors!! Our current litter from Jockette& Krinkle are still looking very promising, bodies are small compact, nice distance between eyes, short ears........ahhhhhh.This feels very rewarding!!I've really learned to appreciate the fine lineage these bunnies have.It is a good thing my husband loves bunnies too!!Thankfully he can't resist those smoochie Holland's either Tata for now... P.S Thanks Again Tammy!!
Where do I start?? We have babies!! So exciting to have our first litter of Holland Lops, the breeding with Jockette and Krinkle so far seems a fine match the babies are round, round everywhere!! Did I mention their short lil ears, wow!! We may have wee show stompers here after all!! I'm excited also that we found the perfect home for our Yogi,to bad he was bigger than his sire Bear.....if only he had his sister's size!! However, it is fantastic that Starbaby is a nice size, she'll make a nice match for Krinkle.Hmmm...what else shall I share .....Ashley's Solo is coming along quite nicely, thankfully!! Babies on their own I realize sometimes don't survive but Cocoa has shown us what a wonderful Mommy she is !! Ok, I have another suprise but I'm not quite ready to share yet...I'll give yah a hint it does involve Hollands of colour....tata for now.
Well I may have good news in the breeding department Finally!! Our little doe Lily is expecting,I palpated and re-palpated haha....I'm a novice here and I did feel a little ball.......ahh it will be nice to see a smoochy Holland baby here!!On to some sad news our new little superstar April is going to get checked out tommorow...she has a growth in her uterine area. We're hoping to rule out cancer, she is a beautiful girl and is very active lets keep our *fingers crossed*.Tata for now!!
Well our wedding was fabulous all the weeks of planning and anticipation were worth it!! The ceremony was beautiful, reception was great,it was so nice to see faces we haven't seen in ages!! Now on to my breeding issues we've been having problems with our little Panda, she delivers nice size babies full term has excellant nest instinct but kindles breech, this brings the next question......maybe we should have her spayed??Oh well,I 'll have to ponder my thoughts since I can't seem to get a hold of anyone to ask their opinion.
